FASTag is a tool that uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments automatically deducted from the customer’s bank account/prepaid wallet linked to the FASTag affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen without stopping the vehicle at the toll plazas. So, as soon as the vehicle crosses the toll plaza, the toll fee will get deducted automatically.

Charges for FASTag:

FASTag is issued by certified banks; the minimum charge is Rs 100 for each tag, which is fixed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). However, it may vary according to different banks, for example:

HDFC bank offers FASTag for a car at Rs 400. The pricing includes the following:

  1. Rs 100 for first recharge in your wallet or when you create your wallet
  2. Rs 100 for Tag issuance fees
  3. Rs 200 for Refundable Security Deposit

ICICI bank offers FASTag for a car at Rs 499.12. The pricing includes the following:

  1. Rs 200 for first recharge in your wallet or when you create your wallet
  2. Rs 99.12 for Tag issuance fees
  3. Rs 200 for Refundable Security Deposit

But, in case if the FASTag is already linked to your bank account, then there is no need to load money separately in your prepaid wallet. So, every time you drive through a toll plaza, pass without having to wait anymore.
